Elections Canada Resources
Canada's Democracy Week is an opportunity for educators to inspire tomorrow's voters, explore the concept of citizenship and engage youth in becoming actively involved in decisions affecting the future of their community and their country.
Elections Canada offers elementary and secondary school lesson plans and civic education materials to help educators like you take advantage of Canada's Democracy Week in the classroom and inspire lifelong engagement in our democratic process.
By using the Democracy Week Education Guide and Elections Canada's civic education materials, you can engage your students in their democracy by giving them tools to talk about:
- democracy in Canada
- the importance of voting
- how they are already contributing to democracy
- how they can continue to contribute in the future
Democracy – Made by You!

Democracy Around the World
Secondary Lesson Plan
Help students discover Canadian democracy by comparing our system of democratic representation with that of other countries.
